The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs Hockey team is part of the CHL network. If you enjoy hockey and live in the ArkLaTex you need to come to a game. I believe that if you come to one game you will be hooked. I was not a hockey fans until just about four years ago, when my son started volunteering at the games, and I started going with him. I was hooked from the start. Where we are originally from there is no hockey any where close to watch. I prefer watching it live instead of on television. If you like fast action with some good hits, then I believe hockey is for you.
The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs are a good team. Coach Scott Muscutt some how always puts together a good team. How he finds some of the players he finds I do not know. Coach Muscutt took the position of Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations for Bossier-Shreveport after the 2000 season, coming on the heels of a three-year playing career with the Mudbugs. After eight full seasons at the helm, Muscutt has coached the Mudbugs to a resounding record of 318-146-51. A hard-nosed player who was known throughout the league for his penalty-killing abilities and his willingness to play any role, Muscutt was a fan favorite in the Bossier-Shreveport area. In his first season as head coach of the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, Muscutt led the team to the 2001 WPHL President’s Cup Championship. In addition to the 2001 WPHL President’s Cup Championship, Muscutt has guided the Bugs to two other appearances in the President’s Cup Finals, the last two Governor’s Cup Regular Season Championships, and three consecutive 40-win seasons.
The Mudbugs Boilers Booster Club has been voted by the CHL as the number one Booster Club. The Booster Club is all about supporting Mudbug Hockey, hockey in the Bossier/Shreveport area and having fun, together. The Booster Club does many things to support Mudbug Hockey and hockey in the Bossier/Shreveport area. Including setting up apartments, feeding players, stocking the team bus for road trips, supporting youth hockey, several yearly parties and much more. So much more I would need a small book to list them all. Being the number One Booster Club in the CHL several years running did not just happen. It takes lots of planning, fundraising and sweat from members. The best way for a fan to feel like part of the team and the action; Mudbug Boilers Booster Club! It’s not for everyone, just the SUPER FANS. While others talk a good game, the Boilers Booster Club puts words into action!
I know as a fan I hate to see the season end, and hate to know that part of the players will not be back next year. I enjoy meeting new players but I sure do miss the ones that do not come back each year. I am waiting on October to get here for Mudbugs hockey to start another season. Lets go Mudbugs!
